Arboreal means “amongst trees”, and that’s exactly where you’ll find my happy place. Whether I’m walking through ancient woodlands or sitting quietly beneath the canopy, being surrounded by trees brings a sense of calm and clarity that I’ve never found anywhere else. Arboreal Soaps was born from that feeling, from a deep-rooted connection to the natural world and a desire to translate it into something tangible, something made by hand.
Hello, I’m Marcsi, the soapsmith behind Arboreal Soaps.
Growing up with a malacologist father and a gemologist mother, nature was never something distant to me - it was woven into everyday life. That connection only deepened through my studies in environmental management and biology. But alongside it, something else was quietly taking shape: an instinct for making. A pull toward working with my hands, experimenting, refining, and creating something both beautiful and purposeful.
Craftsmanship, for me, isn’t just a skill; it’s an inclination. One I inherited, nurtured, and continue to develop with every batch I pour. Watching my parents and uncle build their own paths showed me what’s possible when passion meets persistence, and planted the seed for something I now recognise as my own calling.
As someone who was late-diagnosed with ADHD, I’ve often found that traditional work environments didn’t quite fit. But what once felt like a challenge has become a strength, a different way of thinking that fuels creativity, attention to detail, and an almost intuitive approach to formulation and design. Still, for a long time, I waited for the “right moment” to follow that path… until life decided for me. After being made redundant twice within a year, I realised the perfect moment doesn’t arrive, you create it.
And so I did.
The journey to Arboreal Soaps hasn’t been linear. It’s been shaped by years of experimentation, mistakes, learning curves, and even a complete rebrand. But the truth is, this path began long before the business itself - back in 2017, when I started making my own natural skin and home care as part of a zero-waste lifestyle.
That shift came with a stark realisation: so many everyday products are filled with unnecessary harsh ingredients and wrapped in excessive packaging. Living with eczema and sensitive skin made that reality impossible to ignore. I needed something gentler, something honest - so I turned to my kitchen, and to nature.
What started as a necessity became a passion. What began as simple formulations grew into a craft.
Those early creations laid the foundation for what Arboreal Soaps is today: a blend of nature, science, and skilled handcraft, rooted in intention and care.

The Arboreal Formula
Crafted with a generous superfat blend, each bar is built on a foundation of deeply nourishing beef tallow, rich shea butter, soothing coconut oil, and gentle grapeseed oil.
All ingredients are chosen for their exceptional skin-nourishing properties. We enhance every recipe with thoughtfully selected botanicals: activated charcoal and clays for deep cleansing, finely ground coffee, oats and poppy for gentle exfoliation, and turmeric, paprika or spirulina for antioxidant protection.
For aromatherapy purposes, we only use the highest quality pure essential oils from trusted UK suppliers. These extracts also bring beautiful, authentic scents to our products, furthering their therapeutic benefits.
Every ingredient, therefore, serves a purpose, making each and every bar the best it can be.
